  Shawn Shirzadi   Shawn_Pic_Pearl

Shawn Shirzadi holds BSc and MSc in Petroleum Engineering from University of Texas at Austin. He joined BP in 1988 working as a petrophysicist in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska.
After 3 years, he moved on to reservoir engineering and field development planning focusing on horizontal drilling in gravity drainage area of Prudhoe Bay. In mid 90s he led development and reservoir management of a very challenging area of Prudhoe Bay field where both gas cap expansion and waterflood depletion mechanisms where active and he developed his particular interest in integrated depletion planning and reservoir management, particularly in waterflood and EOR. He spent 8 years working in large oi fields of Middle East, such as North Kuwait and Abu Dhabi Offshore Concession, where he coordinated many field studies to optimize depletion plans for large scale drilling and waterflood schemes.
In 2006, Shawn became the Technology Portfolio Manager for Field of the Future Technology unit, where he managed the technology activities in BPs programs for creating a digital oil field in subsurface and wells and in operations and facilities and created new processes for technology deployment and intellectual property management that have become standards for BPs E&P Technology. Shawn is currently the Program Manager for Data Analytics for BP Subsurface Technology which focuses on developing new technology in data mining and predictive analytics to be predictive in well, reservoir and facility performance using artificial intelligence and other means. He is the long term SPE member, American Chemical Society member, and has participated in many SPE forums to discuss the future of data analytics in subsurface management.
